Jera Petriček
Jera Petriček has studied conducting in her native Slovenia as well as in Vienna, where she lives. In 2018 she obtained the title Magistra Artium in Orchestral Conducting with Professor Simeon Pironkoff at the University for Music and Performing Arts (mdw) in Vienna.
Petriček founded and conducted the Slovenian Chamber Orchestra Vienna, where established professional musicians - notably Slovenian members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna Symphony - collaborated with students of music and was also promoting Slovenian composers in Vienna.
Among the orchestras Jera Petriček has conducted are the Slovenian Philharmonic, the Moravian Philharmonic, Prague Chamber Philharmonia, Radio Orchestra Ljubljana, Maribor Opera Orchestra, Slowind Ensemble, and Orquestra de Camara de Cascais e Oeiras.
In 2022, Petriček was part of the leading team that created a prize-winning and perpetually sold out theatre production in the Vienna Volkstheater - humanistää!, which will be revived for the third time in the season 2024/25.
Since 2023 Jera Petriček has been employed full-time at the Vienna State Opera as maestra suggeritrice - prompter-conductor. She has acted as assistant conductor to Alexander Soddy for the Austrian first performance of the opera Animal Farm by Alexander Raskatov in February 2024.
Jera Petriček is also a doctoral student of Historical Musicology at the University of Music (mdw) with Prof. Dr. Melanie Unseld as her mentor. Petriček is writing a PhD thesis entitled “The Conductor Gertrud Herliczka - Viennese Traces of an International Career”.
