Jacopo Brusa
With degrees in organ and orchestral conducting, Jacopo Brusa is considered one of the most interesting conductors of his generation. Since his debut, national and international critics have described him as ‘a pleasant discovery’ and his conducting as “impeccable”, ‘lively and well-balanced’, and ‘with a remarkable theatrical sense’.
The past few seasons have seen him undertake a wide range of significant engagements, leading him to collaborate, in both opera and symphonic contexts, with Italian and international ensembles such as the Orchestra and Chorus of the Arena di Verona, the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Milan Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the ‘Carlo Felice’ Theatre in Genoa, the Orchestra and Chorus of the ‘G. Verdi’ Theatre in Trieste, the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic of Parma, I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra, the CRR Symphony Orchestra of Istanbul, the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, the “Virtuosi Brunenses” Orchestra of Brno and the “G. Rossini” Symphony Orchestra of Pesaro. Furthermore, he has been a guest at major theatres and festivals such as the Fondazione Arena di Verona, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, the Bulgaria Hall, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, the Macerata Opera Festival, the Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Opera Festival, the Fondazione Donizetti in Bergamo, the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia, the Teatro Sociale in Como, the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, the Teatro Grande in Brescia, the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza, the Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa in Savona, the “Marialisa de Carolis” Concert Organisation in Sassari and the Lerici Music Festival.
Jacopo Brusa made his debut to critical and public acclaim in the following operas: "Turandot", "Madama Butterfly" and "Gianni Schicchi" by G. Puccini; "Don Carlo", "Il trovatore" and "La traviata" by G. Verdi; “William Tell”, “The Barber of Seville”, “Cinderella”, “The Happy Deception” and “The Marriage Contract” by G. Rossini; “Don Quichotte” by J. Massenet; “Così fan tutte” and “The Magic Flute” by W. A. Mozart; “Le maschere” by P. Mascagni; “Nozze Istriane” and “Pittori Fiamminghi” by A. Smareglia; “La serva padrona” by G. B. Pergolesi and “Ein Walzertraum” by O. Straus.
He has recorded for the national television channels Rai 3, Rai 5 and Radio Tre Rai.
In October 2026, Jacopo Brusa will make his debut at the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice with the 20th-century diptych “The Telephone” by G.C. Menotti and “Trouble in Tahiti” by L. Bernstein, whilst at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino he will conduct an opera-symphonic programme centred on the figure of G. Verdi.
